Airport Operations Technician
Casual Position ( 2 positions)
The Airport Services Operations Technician, uses a variety of heavy equipment, perform maintenance duties on airport roads, taxiways, aprons runway and the general airfield.
This is a Union position with CUPE Local 2141.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using a variety of heavy equipment, perform maintenance duties on airport roads, taxiways, aprons runway and the general airfield.
- Inspects all equipment for mechanical defects and safety on a regular basis and report any mechanical attention required.
- Snow removal and surface repair as required on the runway and general airfield space.
- Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal protective equipment and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.
- Dispensing Jet-A1 fuel to aircraft and maintaining associated paperwork.
- Runway Friction Index testing and runway surface condition reporting and maintaining associated paperwork.
- Performs general duties including, but not limited to, garage and terminal maintenance and cleaning, fence repair, road maintenance, tree and brush felling.
- Other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to work independently and to undertake a variety of tasks and perform them with a minimum of supervision.
- Some mechanical skills required.
- Some familiarity with computer usage and common office software.
- Ability to use specialized database software for the purpose of recording and processing fuel orders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Have and maintain a Class DZ Driver’s License or ability to obtain within trial period required.
- World Fuel Services Aircraft Fuel Handling Certificates preferred, ability to obtain within trial period required.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate preferred, ability to obtain within trial period required.
- Aeronautical Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate preferred, ability to obtain within trial period required.
- WHMIS training.
- Knowledge of TP312 and Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- Minimum one (1) to two (2) years related experience working with heavy equipment.
WAGE CLASSIFICATION: $30.10 per hour
