Express Employment Professionals is sourcing a Quality Manager for our client located in Guelph, ON. This position is responsible for ensuring that a company’s products or services meet the established quality standards and customer expectations. They play a critical role in maintaining and improving the overall quality management system within an organization.
Shift: 8:00AM-4:30 PM M-F
Salary: Up to 100,000$ per year dependent on profile & experience
Location: Guelph, ON
Role and Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures specifically for food packaging to ensure compliance with industry regulations, food safety standards, and customer requirements.
· Monitor and evaluate all stages of the food packaging process, from raw material procurement to finished product packaging, to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
· Establish and maintain quality objectives and performance indicators specific to food packaging, such as ensuring proper labeling, ingredient accuracy, and packaging integrity.
· Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess adherence to food safety and quality control procedures, including hygiene practices, sanitation, and pest control.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, and regulatory compliance, to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
· Lead and manage a team of quality control technicians, inspectors, and analysts, providing guidance and training specific to food packaging requirements to ensure their effectiveness and competency.
· Analyze quality data related to food packaging processes and generate reports, highlighting trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for improvement.
· Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality of packaging materials, including ensuring compliance with food contact material regulations and conducting supplier audits.
· Participate in the development and implementation of new packaging solutions, ensuring that quality standards and food safety considerations are considered from the design phase through to production.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes specifically related to food packaging, including packaging materials, labeling requirements, and sustainability initiatives.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as food science, packaging engineering, quality management, or a related discipline.
· Proven experience working in a quality management role within the food packaging industry, with a strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality control practices.
· In-depth knowledge of quality control principles, methodologies, and tools specifically for food packaging (e.g., Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)).
· Familiarity with industry-specific food safety standards and regulations (e.g., Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions related to food packaging quality.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and levels of the organization, including regulatory agencies and external auditors.
· Leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve quality goals and objectives specific to food packaging.
· Proficiency in using quality management software and tools specific to food packaging (e.g., traceability systems, statistical process control software).
· Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food packaging products that meet food safety requirements.
· Professional certifications related to food safety and quality management (e.g., Certified HACCP Auditor, Certified Quality Auditor) are a plus.
