Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for An Estimator for a busy client in Barrie, On.
Our client requires an experienced Estimator to ensure they are fully prepared with all the knowledge needed to successfully bid on various, exciting projects.
Shift: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Type: Full time
Pay: $56K – 65K based on experience
Estimators must aggressively follow-up with vendors and or subcontractors to ensure that bids are received and reviewed for the correct products.
Estimators also assist with Sales to follow-up on bids and budgets to assist in acquisition of successful profitable work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains status of plan and spec reproduction
- Solicits and maintains communication with vendors and subcontractors
- Prepares vendor and subcontractor bid packages
- Quantity take offs of project specific products inclusive of labour and equipment forecasts for labour production
- Entry into estimating cost program for current tenders
- Transmit addenda and other bid information to vendor and subcontractors
- Ensures that we have the proper coverage from vendors and subcontractors on bid day
- Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline
- Enters all relevant information into excel estimating template
- Builds an organized complete bid package file with all relevant information
- Project Knowledge
- Review bid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on every bid
- Has a thorough understanding of the project bid scope
- Develops RFI’s and clarifications
- Performs a comprehensive “bid day” analysis
- Tender project inclusions and exclusions, evaluated per scope and sales strategy
- Include value-engineering ideas
- Knowledge of cladding products, suppliers, equivalents and project application
- Follow up & assistance in closing revisions to costing and scope of work
- Project turnover with Salesperson to Project Management department on awarded bids
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar Estimating role
- Scope take-off, quantity and costing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Post secondary education in architecture design or drafting technology background, or equivalent
