The town and school budgets were passed to the town referendum this week at the Annual Town Budget Meeting. The “2023-2024 Proposed Town Budget link on the Town’s home page will allow you to view the budget.
The town-wide budget referendum will take place Tuesday, April 18th between 6 am and 8 pm at your regular polling places. This is the final step in the budget process!
This a reminder that HARTransit has begun charging bus fares again. Full fare is $1.75, reduced fare for students K-12 is $1.40, and half fare for seniors 65+ or disabled is $0.85. Passes are available at Hartransit.com.
If you travel on Codfish Hill Rd between 302 and Jacklin Rd, note that the road is closed to repair the culvert at Lime Kiln Brook. Stay tuned to social media for updates.
Food Truck Friday is back! You might want to call it Foodie Friday to include local restaurants that already provide great to-go options. Whatever we call it, it’s a great opportunity to spend some summer Fridays in downtown Bethel! The event will take place on the first and third Fridays during the months of June, July, and August. Stay tuned for more information.
If you own commercial or industrial property in Bethel, the annual Income and Expense Returns will be mailed out next week. The returns must come back to the town by June 1st.
Don’t forget the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company Easter Flower Sale. The sale is on April 7th from 8 am to 4 pm and April 8th from 8 am until they sell out. The sales support the ambulance replacement fund since ambulances are purchased from the department’s funds only. (No taxpayer funds)
My next office hours will be Monday, April 10th from 6pm to 7pm in Meeting Room A at Town Hall. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions in person!
Here’s a shout-out to Joey Sacchinelli for setting up the St. Baldricks Brave the Shave event today at Bethel Middle School. The participants raised thousands of dollars for cancer research. Great Job Joey!
Another shout-out goes to Henry Atkins, the youngest American Cancer Society Ambassador in the Country. Henry raised over $3,000 during the Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Way to go Henry!
We recognized Bruce Cornwell this week for 46 years of active service with the Bethel Fire Department! Bruce, congratulations and we are all so very thankful for your service and the impact you have had on our Bethel community!
