The newspaper reports that Budget Director Jacques Jiha sent a letter to nearly every City agency to cut their budgets by four percent for the coming fiscal year.
According to the Times, only the Department of Education and CUNY were asked for smaller cuts of three percent.
Jiha says it’s due to worsening economic conditions in the city.
Meanwhile, the mayor and the Police Benevolent Association were expected to announce a deal setting their long running contract dispute Wednesday.
The PBA has not had a deal with the city since 2017.
Adams is a former police officer and PBA member.
