Fort Saskatchewan was in the holiday spirit this past weekend as lineups for the Fort Saskatchewan Historical Precinct’s Easter Scavenger Hunt extended out past the gates and into the parking lot.

“I would say it was wildly successful, even though it was a much larger turnout than we ever anticipated,” said Stephanie Huolt, Program Coordinator with the Fort Heritage Precinct. “It was good in so many ways, so we were really happy. It seemed like everyone we heard from and all the visitors were happy with it even though there were some lineups.”
Prior to the event, the Fort Precinct had 130 attendees pre-registered, however their rough count at the end of the day on Sunday stood at 570 attendees.
The event featured hidden Easter artwork for hunters to find and count, along with craft stations where children were able to build sheep crafts, rabbit hand crafts, and Easter bunny origami for the older folks. Easter treats were served and enjoyed by hunters of all ages.

Prizes for participating in the scavenger hunt included all sorts of Easter novelties including pens, cookie cutters, costume glasses, craft kits. Prizes and scavenger hunt items went quickly at the event as children and families buzzed about the Precinct.
“People were very patient, as there were a few line ups and things of that nature to deal with, but those were growing pains for us to deal with,” said Huolt. “It seemed like everyone had a lot of fun.”
The Fort Heritage Precinct says that a lot was learned from this event and they hope to put on a more streamlined Easter Scavenger Hunt for the next holiday season.
